Journey
Israel Mbonyi, born Israel Mbonyicyambu a name that practically whispers "spiritual revival," is a Rwandan-Congolese gospel artist, songwriter, and guitarist whose music has captivated East Africa and beyond. Born and raised in a household where faith was as integral as breathing, Mbonyi's journey began not with a grand proclamation, but in the pews of his local church.
This early love for music blossomed into a lifelong passion, leading him to join his church choir as a teenager. However, ambitions Israel yearned to share his unique perspective on faith, a journey that would see him rise to prominence. To his credit are the albums "Number One," (2014) which included his songs "Baho," and “Nzaririmba,” Intashyo (2017), Hari Ubuzima (2020), and Mbwira (2022) among others.
As a preacher who shares the gospel through music, Mbonyi's music is centered on themes of redemption, faith, grace, and the unconditional love of Christ. Known for his unique style, he has been recognized by many, including a nomination at the prestigious 2020 African Entertainment Awards USA.
Beyond the stage, Mbonyi is a man of many talents. He holds a degree in Pharmacy from India and a Master's in Public Health. When he is not performing, he can be found immersed in religious literature, enjoying a good jog, or showcasing his impressive basketball skills on the court.
